The Challenge
Star Cruises needed a web booking engine for its Asia-Pacific market — primarily China — requiring multi-lingual and multi-currency support. The system needed real-time cabin availability from vessel deck plans and end-to-end payment processing.
Our Solution
ME-Tech built the booking engine on a J2EE stack (BEA WebLogic, Hibernate, Spring, Oracle 10g), integrating directly with the Star Cruises back-end reservation system. Customers can visually browse cabin layouts, select specific cabins, and complete multi-currency transactions with straight-through booking and payment capture.
Results
The booking engine launched at starcruises.com within six months, giving Star Cruises a direct online sales channel across Asia-Pacific and reducing dependency on call centres and travel agents for cabin bookings.
